COMPUTER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

                                      Preventive Maintenance
                                   Preventive  Maintenance is the
routine maintenance designed  to prevent the need for more costly repairs, which is done through systematic inspection, detection, correction and preventing of incipient failures before they become actual or major failure.

As time passes, you may notice that your computer’s performance decreases. Computers contain moving parts as well as electronics that are susceptible to failure. Doing routine maintenance can prevent many problems and save your data in the event that you have a serious, unavoidable hardware problem with your computer.

Here the question rises...Why Preventive Maintenance?
  • Preventive maintenance saves Time.
As we both know that most preventive maintenance procedures are quite simple compared to troubleshooting and repair procedures-----now those can really eat up your time and money at a fantastic rate.
  • Preventive maintenance saves Money.
I’m sure we’ve all heard the old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. It’s trite, but it is also true.  Avoiding  problems with your Computer will save you money lather than spending cash for new components or repair jobs.
  • Preventive maintenance Protects your data.
We both know that the purpose of PC is the productive work that can be done with it which in turn gives us the output we call it data. For most people, the data on the hard disk is more important than the hardware that houses it. Taking steps to protect those data therefore makes sense.
  • Preventive maintenance Improves Performance
The parts of your system will actually degrade in performance over time, and preventive maintenance will help to improve the speed of your system.
So let us check on how to perform The Preventive Maintenance in a computer and its peripherals.
Peripheral Device :- is the device that is connected to a host computer but not part of it.
It expands the host's capabilities but does not form part of the core. It is often, but not always, partially or completely dependent on the host.
There are three different types of Peripherals
  1. INPUT----which provides inputs of data, instructions and commands from the user.
                                 e.g mice and keyboard
  1. OUTPUT----which provides the outcome of the processed data
                                  e.g monitors and printers
  1. STORAGE----which store data
e.g hard drives and flash drives

                                                                   Computer preventive maintenance  Schedule
With proper  maintenance   you can avoid troubles and keep your computer running great.
Below is the list of  unavoidable  issues
  • Keep your Operating System up-to-date with all the latest security releases.
  • Run an anti-virus program  regularly  to keep your computer bug free
  • Run system utilities  regularly  to  make sure  your hardware is operating correctly
This is the schedule you can use as a guide
--Delete temporary internet files daily
--Delete temporary windows files daily
--Run virus scan weekly
--Check the updates to Java  weekly
--Run disk cleanup monthly
--Run scan disk/Check disk monthly
--Run disk  defragment monthly
--Check for updates for various programs/softwares
--Clean computer peripherals  at least once  annually
--Verifying you have the latest anti-virus protection updates on your computer
--Download the latest drivers for your hardware
